Yard of the Month

APRIL 2023: COLORADOSCAPE EDITION
Show us your Coloradoscaped (aka Xeriscaped) front yards and/or rear yards and be entered to win a $25 Gift Card to Nothing Bundt Cakes! If nominating yourself, please provide photos to showcase your yard. If nominating a neighbor, we will contact them to see if they would like to participate in the contest.

You may submit nominations for yourself or a neighbor from Tuesday, April 4 - Monday, April 17 (5pm deadline). Email nominees to Madison Allen at mallen@meadowslink.com.

The voting window will commence Tuesday, April 18 - Monday, April 24 (5pm deadline).
The winner will be notified and announced across all MNC platforms on Tuesday, April 25 accompanied by a personal interview to learn more about the winning household!

Contest Background: The Meadows Neighborhood Company (MNC) Board of Governors and MNC Staff are pleased to conduct the Yard of the Month (YOTM) contest to show their appreciation and to recognize homeowners who exhibit effort in maintaining their property. The program will award monthly winners for landscaping in designated months throughout the year, and for holiday decorations in the months of October (Halloween) and December (Winter Night Lights).

Each monthly winner will receive a prize gift and special recognition on The Meadows Facebook page, in the e-blast, and on the website (under News & Photo Galleries). In addition, the winner will have the honor of displaying and keeping the official “Meadows Neighborhood Company Yard of the Month” lawn-sign. Who is the judge? You are! Residents vote via an online survey that will be accessible on Facebook, in the e-blast, and on the website (under News). We will typically allot 2 weeks for submissions and 1 week for voting, but check our pages for precise deadlines.

Contest Guidelines

All current MNC residents, both owner-occupied and rental, are automatically eligible to participate in the contest.
The upkeep of the yard can reflect the efforts of the residents themselves or that of a professional landscaper.
Judging for the award will be done by residents of the MNC HOA via an online survey.
You can promote/advertise the survey however you wish, but please try to keep it to residents of the MNC community.
The same property cannot receive more than one award in the same rolling 12-month calendar period. On the other hand, if you have not won previously in the last 12-months, you are welcome to enter the contest again, at any time.
If chosen as the winner, you may display your lawn-sign for up to 1 month after winning.
During their reign as YOTM, winners are expected to maintain their yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the title.

Judging Criteria: Candidates are judged on the appearance of their property as viewed from the street (unless otherwise noted) and all yard compositions are encouraged to participate. Yards may be judged on overall appearance and factors including, but not limited to, tidiness and neatness; pruned and trimmed trees/shrubs; edged and defined lawns with no bare spots or excessive weeds; mowed, edged, and trimmed grass; walkways, driveways, and curbs edged and free of dirt/debris; curb appeal.

Decorative Awards: YOTM candidates for decorative awards are judged solely on the exterior appearance of their property as viewed from the street. Overall appearance, tastefulness, creativity, decorating in the “spirit of the holiday” are factors to be considered. Per the MNC Guidelines, holiday decorations must not be installed more than 30 days prior to the holiday and must be removed within 30 days of the end of the holiday.

Meadows Living Photo Submissions

Take photos around your neighborhood, at events, outdoors, with family and friends, wildlife, or of anything that captures a beautiful moment or spot in The Meadows! The winner will have their name on the front cover and be specially recognized in the e-blast, on Facebook, and this webpage! Just submit your photos to mallen@meadowslink.com. Multiple photo submissions are accepted.
If people are featured, make sure they consent to being published on all MNC platforms indefinitely.
Those not selected for the cover may have their submissions utilized as filler photos and/or posted on Facebook with credit!

January – March 2023 Winner: The winning cover photo goes to Kelly Hidalgo and her three little girls! This photo reminds us of the joyful times spent with family that create everlasting memories. From the first snowfall to the hot cocoa break after a fun snow day, we love the wholesome feelings this capture brings. It certainly represents the beauty of winter in Colorado right here in The Meadows.
